Millar Christmas

\

This years Christmas was so lovely!

10 children and 8 adults surrounded by gifts galore and LED warmth (the tv fireplace was burning).

Ewan enjoyed his first Christmas and even opened his gift- with a little help from Daddy!

I think this was the best Christmas yet. We were relaxed even with church on Christmas morning and a meal and snow storm. Everyone was ready to settle in for the day and enjoy everything. Its what I needed. Christmas spirit was slow in arriving.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas.

What Would a Christmas Tree be...

Without ornaments such as these?

Movie Time

Its incredibly rare that all three of my boys are occupied at the same time.

The other day Ewan was asleep in bed and with some popcorn on little plates, my boys sat at the table and enjoyed leap frog's movie- The Letter Factory.

May I just say that if anyone has children who are just learning letters - this is the best thing you will ever find. After the first time watching it Matthew already knew a few new letters and now he knows every single one and their sounds. I'm not an advocate for children sitting in front of a movie all the time but this one is well worth it.

And it gave me a melt-y moment looking at my two big boys enjoying a movie together... in silence!

Christmas play 2011

This years Christmas play went really well.
I accidentally started singing a song with the kids and stopped thinking I had the wrong one, looked at them and mouthed "Is that right?", then they nodded back at me and we started again.

I felt like everyone did beautifully and so many people lent a helping hand.

I didn't get a single picture so I am glad Josh and Karin had their camera and were clicking away because these are precious moments.

A precious lamb- my precious little lamb.

The three wise men who did a great job.

Our pastors wife wrote this play and we performed it as kids. Now I am the one running it and I feel like it will never be as good as when she did it but she wrote a great play- all scripture that the kids memorize.

Until next year Christmas play.

Ugly Tree

Special circumstances brought us our tree this year.

You see, with an unfinished house and a hubby pretty busy with work during the day and house work at night we haven't had a chance to really get a tree. We love cutting down a tree every year and normally do this at Dave's family's place but we just didn't have time this year.

Here enters out ugly tree.

My Aunty Peggy called me over the other day while at my moms to take a look at her tree. Someone cut one down for her and brought it right into her home but it was just too big a tree for her place. She asked if I needed one and I let her know that we would really appreciate it. Dave was able to pick it up on the way home from work and it made it so much easier and cheaper.

Isn't this just the ugliest tree you have ever seen??? I love it and once it is completely decorated it will gain some character and maybe even look sweet. Currently, however, it is full of holes and has coloured lights on it (I dont normally do that but I wasn't home when the tree was put up- I'm a white lights kind of lady).

No matter how ugly the tree is, though, I still really love it. It makes me think of my thoughtful Aunt, my adorable husband who braced the tree and put up the lights just to make me happy, it brings warmth to the house, it's the very first tree in our new house and soon it will make me giggle because of how the boys decorated it.

Ugly tree or not, I think all Christmas trees brighten up a home. Next year I just hope we can be a bit more on top of things and aim for a little bit more... tree.

Christmas Projects

This year I finally made the ornament I'd been eying for a while. It seemed daunting but it was just a matter of learning a few new things and guessing at a few other things.

I am really quite proud of these little guys.

Wood Stove- Round One

My laundry fan was high jacked to help push the heat from the stove into our side of the house so I now have to hang my laundry on the yucky side which is really annoying if something falls- right into saw dust and dirt. Strike One!
I have to add wood to it a lot because we only have the quick burning wood at the moment. We don't have any tools for the stove and the wood is all sloping towards the door . I went to open it and the handle was hot and then went to close the door and burned my fingers. Strike Two!

Dear stove, you are so close to losing it in my good books and it's still only 9:20am on day one!!! Sure doesn't help that I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning with three sick boys.
